This is the privacy policy for Rooftop Drone Techs, a drone roof inspection service operating across the Greater Toronto Area. We're committed to handling your personal information responsibly and transparently.

What information we collect
Information you give us
When you book an inspection or contact us, you provide:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- The property address to be inspected and details about the property (size, type, access notes)
- Any additional notes or context you share with us in the booking form or via email
- Payment information, processed by our payment provider (we don't store full card details on our servers)
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, we collect basic technical data through Cloudflare Analytics:
- Your IP address and approximate geographic location
- Browser type and version
- Pages you visited and how you arrived (referring website)
- Timestamp of your visit
This is aggregated, privacy-respecting analytics. We don't use third-party tracking pixels, ad networks, or cross-site tracking cookies.
Inspection deliverables
As part of providing your inspection, we capture aerial imagery of your property's roof and surrounding visible exterior. This imagery is what you're paying us to produce, and it's delivered to you on a physical SD card.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Schedule, dispatch, and fulfill your roof inspection booking
- Send booking confirmations, reminders, calendar invites, and final reports
- Process payments and issue receipts and invoices
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support
- Improve our website, service quality, and operations
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations (such as tax records and Transport Canada compliance)
If you opt in to marketing emails, we'll occasionally send service updates or seasonal reminders. You can unsubscribe at any time. We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to deliver your inspection and run our business. Specifically:
- Field operators — the pilot dispatched to your property gets the address, contact info, and any access notes you've shared.
- Email and calendar providers — we use Microsoft 365 to send confirmations and calendar invites. Your booking details pass through their infrastructure.
- Payment processors — for processing your payment securely.
- Legal authorities — if required by Canadian law, court order, or to investigate suspected fraud or threats to safety.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it for purposes outside of providing and improving our inspection service.
How long we keep it
- Booking records and invoices: 7 years (required by the Canada Revenue Agency for tax purposes)
- Aerial imagery: The original imagery is delivered to you on an SD card. We keep our own working copy for 90 days after delivery, then permanently delete it — unless you ask us to keep it longer (for example, for a follow-up inspection comparison).
- Email correspondence: Retained as long as needed for the business relationship and reasonable record-keeping, typically up to 3 years after our last interaction.
- Marketing email lists: Until you unsubscribe.
- Website analytics: Aggregated and retained per Cloudflare's standard data retention.
Your rights under PIPEDA
As a Canadian resident, you have these rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You can ask us to correct information that's inaccurate or out of date.
- Withdrawal of consent: You can withdraw your consent for us to use your information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions (for example, we still need to keep tax records for 7 years).
- Complaint: If you believe we've mishandled your information, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@rooftopdronetechs.ca. We'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies and tracking
Our website uses Cloudflare for hosting, security, and basic analytics. Cloudflare may set a small number of essential cookies for security and performance. We do not use:
- Third-party advertising or retargeting cookies
- Cross-site tracking pixels (Facebook, Google Ads, etc.)
- Behavioural profiling tools
Most modern browsers let you block or clear cookies in your settings. Doing so won't break our site.
Security
We protect your information with reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data:
- HTTPS encryption on all web traffic
- Access controls limiting who can see booking data
- Reputable cloud providers (Cloudflare, Microsoft 365) with their own enterprise-grade security
- Physical SD cards delivered to you directly (in person or via tracked mail) so your imagery isn't sitting indefinitely in the cloud
No system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection against all threats. If a security incident affects your data, we'll notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
Children's information
Our service is for adults booking inspections of property they own or manage. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International data transfers
Some of our service providers (Cloudflare, Microsoft 365) may store data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States. By using our service, you consent to your information being processed in those locations, subject to their own privacy practices and applicable data protection laws.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our business or the law evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via email to active customers or a prominent notice on this site.
